The game's director Joe Shely explains during a recent roundtable discussion that reimagining sets in a manner that suits Diablo 4 properly wouldn't be possible for launch early next year, although the team is considering making them part of the live-streaming service.
"As we've been working on the game, it seemed that we could create sets in a novel approach to the ones we've experienced previously in Diablo 3. "There's a staff legend in the demo that turns the spell's fireball to triple fireball," former game director Luis Barriga told Polygon(opens in new tab) in the year 2019.
However, we wanted more time to get sets into the game in the manner that works well with the rest of Diablo 4, so you won't find them in the initial launch in the game," Shely explains. "We consider sets to be amazing, and we'd like to get them right, therefore, we're looking at for our live service."
